//Liverpool FC is the winner of the 1st Special Needs European Cup

For the 6th time, the “FOOTBALL IS MORE” FOUNDATION and the FIM Family supported the social aspect of the INTERNATIONAL HELVETIA U16 CUP. Since 2011, the Special Adventure Camp for people with disabilities has been held parallel to the junior tournament. Of course, the camp was integrated into the INTERNATIONAL U16 CUP in order to promote cooperation between the various participants. In addition to friendly matches, inclusion events and joint leisure activities, there was a lightning tournament at the LAC on 1 August. (Lugano Arte e Cultura).
The 1st SPECIAL NEEDS EUROPEAN CUP celebrated a premiere in disabled sports as an independent tournament for the 10 participating Special Needs Teams from 7 different countries. Under the direction of Jim Cassell (former director of the Manchester City Youth Academy), the players were given the opportunity to measure their football skills in competition and to grow beyond themselves.
The Special Needs Team of Liverpool FC won the tournament in an exciting final against S.L. Benfica. Liverpool FC celebrated together with their U16 team at the award ceremony.
We are especially proud that six clubs arrived with one U16 team and one Special-Needs team each.

We would like to thank all spectators, players, coaches, sponsors and especially our 100 volunteers in Lugano. Thank you very much and see you in two years!
