The fourth phase of our project “Ukraine: Into Society Through Sport” has successfully concluded in Rzeszów, Poland once again at the beautiful location of WR Sports. This initiative was launched with a clear mission: to support war-injured veterans with amputations on their path toward reintegration into society through the power of sport, community, and psychological rehabilitation.

Together with our long-standing partner Don Bosco and nine teams from the Ukrainian Ліга Дужих (League of the Mighty), we welcomed 42 participants to a three days filled with purpose, learning, and connection. Among them were not only seasoned amputee footballers, but also newly injured veterans who were learning to play football with missing limbs for the very first time — a courageous step towards regaining independence and confidence.

On the pitch, technical and tactical training was delivered by two outstanding coaches: Dmytro Kameko, Head Coach of Poland’s Amputee National Team, and Steve Johnson, Head Coach at Everton in the Community. Through their sessions, participants improved their coordination, learned new techniques, and grew closer as a united team.

Equally important were the psychological support sessions led by Dr. phil. Lisa Miebach, a clinical expert in trauma and mental health. Her work focused on trauma recovery, emotional regulation, and rebuilding a sense of self-worth in a safe and protected space — vital for those carrying the invisible wounds of war.

The programme was further enriched with polysportive rehabilitation and E-Sports modules, opening additional avenues for personal development, movement, and participation in inclusive sporting environments.

Once again, this phase demonstrated the incredible power of unity, empathy, and structured support. Bonds were formed, stories were shared, and a community of strength continued to grow — both on and off the pitch.

Our heartfelt thanks go to all our partners, staff, and especially to the participants for their trust, courage, and resilience.

TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER!
