The next phase of the "Ukraine: Into Society Through Sport" project will take place again in Rzeszów, Poland, in collaboration with FK Pokrova, a team made up of war-injured soldiers of various ages as well as Don Bosco. This year’s program will continue to combine theoretical seminars with practical on-field training sessions to promote sports skills and support social reintegration. The program also focuses on helping participants manage and overcome trauma, aiding their psychological recovery and reintegration into society.

In addition to football training, water polo will be introduced as a new element to promote physical rehabilitation and build confidence in a different environment. E-Sports will also be part of the project, offering a platform for teamwork and strategic thinking in the digital realm.
The theoretical lectures will be practically applied on the field with Steve Johnson (Everton FC) and İsmail Temiz (Turkish Amputee National Team). The two experts will work with participants on tactical themes and implement them during the training sessions. Additionally, Dr. Jürgen Buschmann will provide valuable insights into sports science and development.
This year, two outstanding individuals join the team:
İsmail Temiz: A former professional football player and now the head coach of Turkey’s amputee football team. Born in 1981 in Turkey, Temiz had a successful career in professional football before transitioning to amputee football after an accident that resulted in a disability. He joined the Turkish national amputee football team and played a pivotal role in its success. In 2023, Temiz succeeded Osman Çakmak as head coach of the national team. Under his leadership, the team achieved significant milestones, including winning the 2022 Amputee Football World Cup and the 2024 European Championship. Temiz is known for his focus on teamwork, resilience, and the importance of promoting amputee football in Turkey.
Dr. phil. Lisa Miebach: An experienced psychological psychotherapist from Bonn. Since 2024, she has taken on the scientific leadership role at the Köln-Bonner Academy for Psychotherapy (KBAP, KBAV) and is a lecturer at the University Hospital of Jena in the DFG-funded project "Deep-Effects of Deliberate Practice and Feedback in Psychotherapy Training." With extensive expertise in trauma therapy, she has been working at the MVZ Psyche in Bonn since 2021, where she offers group therapy. Dr. Miebach holds a license as a psychological psychotherapist and was a scientific associate at the University Hospital Bonn and the DZNE from 2015 to 2021.
She will lead the newly introduced psychological module, focusing on supporting the mental health and emotional resilience of war veterans, an essential step towards holistic rehabilitation and social reintegration.
