Swiss Inclusion League brings a full day of unity to St. Gallen

A matchday that felt like a festival
On 16 November 2025 the Swiss Inclusion League brought the Athletik Zentrum St. Gallen to life. Athletes with disabilities, coaches, families, and supporters shared one pitch and one purpose: proving inclusion is strongest when everyone plays together.
The atmosphere was electric from the first whistle. Teams and visiting children greeted each other, swapped roles, and set the tone for a day that was as much about community as competition.
Key figures at a glance
- 10 participating teams
- 100 athletes with disabilities
- 43 children from FC Appenzell and FC Bühler joining mixed inclusive teams in the afternoon
- 1 awareness presentation on inclusion in sport
- 32 dedicated coaches
- 200–300 spectators creating constant energy
- 7 staff members supporting the programme
- 1 day overflowing with 1,000 emotions
On the pitch, inclusion in action
Mixed teams showcased skill, teamwork, and joy in equal measure. Morning fixtures built confidence; the afternoon brought children into the line-ups so every squad had a blend of abilities and perspectives. Every goal, every tackle, and every assist was greeted with applause that blurred the lines between players and fans.
Learning alongside the matches
An awareness presentation reminded everyone why inclusion in sport matters: participation, understanding, and accessibility fuel true community impact. The lessons landed immediately—coaches adapted drills, teammates supported each other, and spectators saw inclusion as something to feel, not just discuss.
United by St. Gallen
The City of St. Gallen helped turn the league into a model of what’s possible when partners stand together. With their support—and the commitment of families, clubs, and our staff—the Swiss Inclusion League once again showed why FOOTBALL IS MORE.
