COACH THE COACHES
LAOS

A sustainable programme in Laos for education, health and inclusion through football

Helping people help themselves

Coach the Coaches teaches young people in developing countries to become coaches with socio-pedagogical and health skills – and thus enables them to improve the future prospects of underprivileged children, young people and their families through football. In addition to footballing skills, elementary socio-pedagogical and health skills are also taught as part of this course. After the course, the coaches return to their home regions and transmit their knowledge to children and young people with disabilities according to the “peer-to-peer education” principle. The project is organised by FOOTBALL IS MORE and selected members of the FIM-Family, who contribute according to their respective skills: trainers from international football clubs are responsible for teaching the football skills, while local aid organisations take care of health issues. Local education ministries in turn support us with the selection of participants and participating schools.

Beneficiaries

Locally selected football trainers, coaches, teachers and interested parties, who are active in their communities in social organisations or sports clubs, are trained to become FIM coaches. In the medium term, children and young people from the region obviously benefit, as well as their parents and schools. The resulting snowball effect provides various advantages for whole regions and communities.

“Football showed me, what you can do with your life. as you play, you learn discipline, respect and following rules that also count off the pitch. FOR ME, FOOTBALL WAS A SCHOOL OF LIFE, A SCHOOL OF LIFE THAT helped me in many situations. Now, through the social projects of the FOOTBALL IS MORE foundation, I can give back some of my happiness to children and young people. We can all participate!”

Demba Ba, Istanbul Basaksehir striker & FIM ambassador
