Yesterday we brought our inclusive football week to a successful conclusion with the finals of the Special Needs Tournament, a walking football competition and our 10th anniversary celebration.
The highlight of the day was when Benfica's inclusive football team held up the trophy after an exciting final match against FC Brunnen. Bright faces could be seen and great fair play could be felt: the competitors of the football teams for young people with disabilities from VfB Stuttgart, FC Brunnen, SCR Altach and FC Lugano visibly rejoiced with the Portuguese youngsters.
Shortly afterwards, the inclusive and intergenerational walking football tournament began, in which numerous teams from the region had registered. The Liechtenstein Parliament, the Cantonal Councils of Lucerne and St. Gallen, the clubs FC St. Gallen, FC Schaan, FC Buchs and Helvetia Insurance each provided a team. The victory went to the FC St. Gallen team.
The entire FOOTBALL IS MORE team was very happy to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the foundation in this setting together with all participating teams, the head of our host municipality Daniel Hilti and all our sponsors and supporters.
Today, in addition to training sessions and a lightning tournament with mixed teams, the qualification round for the 11th INTERNATIONAL HELVETIA U16 CUP 2022 took place in St. Gallen. The U15 teams from the Liechtenstein Football Association, FC Zurich, FC Aarau and FC Winterthur fought for one of the coveted starting places. FC Winterthur advanced to the final without defeat and secured the tournament victory there in commanding fashion.
