Phase 4 of our Project “Ukraine: Into Society Through Sport” in Rzeszów

With great joy and deep commitment, we at the FOOTBALL IS MORE Foundation have launched the fourth phase of our project “Ukraine: Into Society Through Sport” in Rzeszów, Poland.

Together with our partner Don Bosco and the dedicated teams of the Ukrainian Ліга Дужих (League of the mighty), we welcomed 42 players and representatives from a total of nine amputee football clubs to an intensive training and education camp. Particularly encouraging: many of the participants come from newly founded teams – a clear sign of the growth and future of this remarkable sport.

Our camp is much more than just a sports event – it is a platform for trust, community, and personal development. We combine a passion for football with the mission to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our participants. In a safe and supportive environment, we offer space for trauma processing and reintegration. Our focus is on helping participants cope with the psychological impact of war and regain their sense of self-worth. Through football, we not only foster a sense of belonging but also promote mutual understanding and the strengthening of individual potential.

We are particularly proud of the renewed involvement of our international experts, who have been shaping this project from the very beginning:

• Dr. phil. Lisa Miebach, Psychological Psychotherapist, Scientific Director of the Cologne-Bonn Academies for Psychotherapy

• Dr. Jürgen Buschmann, renowned sports psychologist from Germany

• Dmytro Kameko, Head Coach of the Polish National Amputee Football Team

• Steve Johnson, Head Coach at Everton in the Community

With their experience, empathy, and dedication, they create spaces where learning, growth, and connection become possible – regardless of background, language, or life story.

We sincerely thank all partners, supporters, and of course the participants for their trust, openness, and commitment. This project powerfully demonstrates how sport can build bridges – between people and across borders.
